The Doctor and Peri find themselves in the Museum of Aural Antiquities, where every sound is stored for posterity - from the speeches of Visteen Krane to security service wire taps and interrogation tapes. But they also find an intruder, mysteriously changed recordings, and a dead body. Before long the Doctor realises that there is more going on than a simple break-in or murder. How can he defeat a creature that is made of pure sound?

Review By J. - This is perhaps, one of my least favorite Doctor Who audio adventures thus far. Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant are fine as the Doctor and Peri, though as this is set early on in the Sixth Doctors life he is at times maddeningly arrogant and annoying. The Sixth Doctor has to be my least favourite incarnation of the Doctor, and in many ways this episode demonstrates why. He is rude, arrogant, and obnoxious. At least he is not a borderline psychopath in this one as in his first television appearance. The plot revolves around an attempt to manipulate a public election using the legacy of a famous politician/actor by a group of fascists, this really does seem to be a recurring theme for Big Finish, listen to the Fearmonger for another of these, and is in line with the show in the mid 1980's, but is a little tiresome here. The events take place in a Museum of Aural Antiquities, which is now effectively haunted by a sound creature. For a better take on a sound creature listen to "Dead Air" narrated by David Tennant. While this adventure is okay, it just doesn't have the magic of the other Doctor Who audio adventures. (Posted on March 19, 2013)
