Cabin Pressure Complete Series 2
Series 2 of this radio gem takes off and soars to new heights of comedic excellence, and while no job may be too small for this worryingly incompetent airline, even the tiniest task often leaves a trail of havoc littering the comedy runway. Stephanie Cole, Benedict Cumberbatch, Roger Allam and John Finnemore return as the hapless crew of MJN Air, the world’s smallest airline, and thanks to the cast’s superb acting talents and an expertly crafted script, series two reaches new altitudes of hilarity.
In this, the second series, the cast members are on their usual excellent form. The gags fly thick and fast and the characters are so well established by now that you can feel the actors really settling into their roles and enjoying themselves. The plots to each episode are stand-alone, although there are through-lines that you can follow, making this a series you can dip in and out of or follow all the way through. Each centers on the crew taking a different job to a different location and all the problems they encounter along the way.
Highlights of the second series include ‘Gdansk,’ in which the staff are carrying a full orchestra, only for Carolyn to fall-out with a paranoid bassoonist and ‘Ipswich,’ in which Arthur struggles to assert his position as ‘top dog’ on a safety refresher course. This series is for those who light their comedies fast and funny with excellent characterizations.
