The Jungle Book – Mowgli Stories – Rudyard Kipling
Few tales have enchanted the young minds of man-cubs as much as Rudyard Kipling’s anthology of short stories about a boy named Mowgli, known collectively as The Jungle Book. This audiobook features unabridged readings of three of these thrilling adventurous tales.
It all starts with ‘Mowgli’s Brothers’, in which the young ‘man-cub’ Mowgli is found abandoned in the jungle and adopted by a pack of friendly wolves. With the help and guidance of Baloo the Bear and Bagheera the panther he survives, but soon he must take on the villainous tiger Shere Khan.
In ‘Kaa’s Hunting’ Baloo and Bagheera must come to the man-cub’s aid again, when he is held captive by a group of monkeys intent on making him their chief, while in ‘Tiger Tiger’ Mowgli’s return to civilization doesn’t go as planned, and he must again face up to his old enemy Shere Khan.
Each story has the power to mesmerize as well as the gaze of any rock python, while also holding important moral messages for children that are as relevant today as when they were first published more than a hundred years ago. In this audiobook, Kipling’s characters and jungle narratives are brought memorably to life by the dulcet tones of the highly prolific actor Peter Jeffrey.
