The Good Thief’s Guide to Vegas
Author Chris Ewan’s ‘Good Thief’ series has gone from strength to strength since the release of his debut ‘The Good Thief’s Guide to Amsterdam’ in 2007. For crime fiction writer Charlie Howard, the main character of his novels, success is a little more elusive. Which explains his less salubrious sideline as an occasional thief.
In this, the third of the globe-trotting humorous crime fiction series, Charlie is staying at Las Vegas’ Fifty Fifty casino/ hotel, with the intention of making the resident magician’s fortune disappear from under his nose. But, as ever, things don’t go exactly to plan and he finds himself face to face with a corpse in the illusionist’s bathtub. To add to his troubles, the magician has disappeared, along with a substantial sum of the casino’s money, and Charlie is left to take the blame.
A fast-paced and darkly comic tale full of twists and perfect for anyone who enjoys a good crime caper, this unabridged audio version of the popular novel is read with equal parts sophistication and mischief by Simon Vance. The plot twists come thick and fast, but there’s just enough time to drink in the Las Vegas setting and enjoy Chris Ewans deft turns of phrase before the story takes you down another chaotic path.
