Torchwood: Ghost Train

For any Torchwood fan who wants to get to know Rhys a little better, Ghost Train is a cracking place to start. Read by none other than Kai Owen - who plays the character in the TV series - this James Goss penned story focuses very much on Rhys and is told entirely from his perspective.

As a haulage manager, Rhys’ biggest concerns are usually things like lorry-loads of spuds being late. But in Ghost Train he is forced to take on even greater mysteries, such as where his fridges keep disappearing to. It’s a humorous and exciting story with some perhaps surprising moments of friendship between Rhys and Ianto, and some revealing insight into the man who is perhaps Torchwood’s most down to earth character.

What really makes this audio book though is the fact that it’s told by Owen while completely in character, so effectively it is almost as if Rhys Williams is standing beside you telling you a story over coffee and a hotdog.

In terms of where it sits in the wider Torchwood canon, Ghost Train is set after series two of the TV series, and is a perfect precursor to the greater role that Rhys was given in the third Children of Earth series.
