Jacqueline Wilson is one of the most successful children’s authors of her time, and her ability to tell an engaging story whilst tackling real issues that are relevant to children today make her beloved by readers all over both young and old. In this touching story we meet Ella, a lonely 8-year old girl who has to deal with her mother falling into a coma having just given birth to Ella’s new baby half-brother who Ella now has to take care of, all whilst trying to carry on as normally as possible. Her so-called friends abandon her, leaving her alone and facing a situation that anyone would struggle to deal with, let alone an 8-year old girl.

As part of a school project Ella learns about whales. These fascinating creatures call out in the ocean for hours at a time searching for other whales - something Ella feels she can identify with. She wonders whether if makes a cry for help of her own her comatose mum will somehow hear it.

This poignant but ultimately uplifting tale about an ordinary child dealing with an extraordinary situation is read by Jacqueline Wilson herself, and is available to purchase either as a CD audiobook or an MP3 download.
