Yes, it has the original cast members and, yes, they are "re-doing" the same scripts....but........they sound so bored!
It lacks the energy and pace of the original radio series, with the cast all being quite a few years older (aren't we all!?).
This is one for collectors, I think, but if you want to really enjoy the sheer genius of Douglas Adams's masterpiece, get the original radio series. (Posted on 18 December 2012)

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was voted the nation’s favourite audiobook in a recent poll by The Guardian newspaper. Faithfully adapted from Douglas Adams’ novel, it charts the adventures of Arthur Dent as he is trying to prevent his house being bulldozed to make way for a new inter-galactic bypass. He is best friends with Ford Prefect, an alien who has been living on Earth for 15 years and a researcher for the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Ford transports Arthur to a nearby spaceship just as the Earth is destroyed. And that’s where the adventures really start, as our heroes are subjected to the horrors of Vogon poetry and then unceremoniously ejected out into the vacuum of space…
This audiobook features a new cast, alongside the iconic music from the TV series that brought the novel to the public’s attention. The dialogue is witty and fast-paced, with a more than satirical take on bureaucracy and politics. The cast are on fine form and include Peter Jones, Simon Jones, Mark Wing-Davey and Susan Sheridan, portraying characters such as the two-headed Zaphod Beeblebrox and Marvin the Paranoid Android with relish.
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a classic rendering of a classic novel, one for fans of sci-fi, comedy and satire alike.
