The author of numerous, much-loved books about life in the downland village of Fairacre and the Cotswold village of Thrush Green, Miss Read (Mrs Dora Saint) lives near Hungerford, Berkshire.
The writer, Dora Saint grew up in a quaint English village in Kent. Her parents lived an uneventful life but were always insistent that education was of the utmost importance for their daughter. Saint took this to heart and thrived in her early education and entering a career as a teacher. Later in life Saint went on to become a writer using the pen name 'Miss. Read'. She drew on her experiences of English country village life and being a schoolteacher and filled book upon book with wonderful stories based on her observations.
'Tales from a Village School' is a compilation of 40 stories from the unstoppable Miss Read. It takes Fairacre fans, old and new, into the village school for more treats of community spirit and possible upset. Miss.
