'Spook Spotting'
Spook-spotter Amy is delighted when her best friend Hannah invites her to stay in an old castle. Her head fills with visions of ghosts and vampires - while Hannah is more interested in the wildlife sanctuary in the castle grounds. But there are surprises in store for both of them...

'Spooks Ahoy!'
From the moment Mum mentions the boating holiday, Amy’s mind goes overboard with thoughts of treasure, mermaids, phantom ships and adventure on the high seas. The reality turns out to be quite different - but still with thrills, spills and laughs aplenty!

Ann Beach has appeared in 'The Seagull' in the West End and 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' at the RSC. Her television credits include 'Fresh Fields' and 'Cold Blood' and she has been in a number of films. She also works extensively in the sound medium.

Active StarActive StarActive StarActive StarActive Star Farcical adventures with ghost hunting Amy
Review By Fi L - We have heard these stories so often we can almost quote them verbatim. And we never get sick of them. These are the hilarious adventures of Amy, a ghost story afficianado. Seeing the world through spook-coloured spectacles, she's always hoping for supernatural adventures, but things never turn out the way she hopes. But surely, when she and best friend Hannah, go to stay in an old castle, she must find the ghosts she's looking for and get on T.V.? Trouble is, Hannah is a down-to earth bird watcher with no time for ghostly fancies. Amy does get on T.V. but not for the reason she hoped. Still it does show that an interest in ghosts can be very useful. Unlike so many children's stories there are no morals in these tales, just out and out fun. The up-in-the-air Amy is nicely balanced by the down-to-earth Hannah. As someone who used to go around knocking on wooden panels to find secret passages I can totally identify with the imaginative Amy, as I'm sure lots of people will. In Spooks Ahoy Amy, her mum and Hannah set off on a hilariously disastrous canal boat holiday. The stories are well-paced, filled with joyous energy and lots of laugh out loud moments. Ann Beach's lively reading wonderfully captures Amy's dauntless enthusiasm, Hannah's calm sensibleness and mum's air of constant harrassment. A big 5 stars. (Posted on 13 November 2012)
