For twenty years Miles Kington wrote a humorous column in which everything was made up and nothing could be trusted. This, his autobiography, was written to those same exacting standards.
Was his father really a German spy? Did his mother insist on permission from the Vatican before dancing on Sundays? Was baby Miles the victim of pram-napping and can he really claim credit as co-creator of the anti-squirrel device? Who cares, when a book is as brilliantly entertaining as this one?
Miles Kington was born in Northern Ireland in 1941. He wrote for The Times, Punch and The Independent (since it began in 1986). Among his books were 'How Shall I Tell The Dog?', 'Let’s Parler Franglais!' and 'Let’s Parler Franglais Again!' He died in 2008 at the age of 66.
Stephen Thorne trained at RADA and played several seasons with the Old Vic Company, and the RSC in Stratford and London. He has worked extensively in radio, with over 2,000 broadcasts for the BBC including 'Uncle Mort' in the Radio 4 comedy series and the part of Treebeard in 'The Lord of the Rings'. His TV work includes 'EastEnders', 'Boys from the Bush', 'Death of an Expert Witness' and 'David Copperfield'.
