Customer Reviews

John le Carré is one of the best authors of fictional espionage books of all time and Smiley’s People stars George Smiley, the British master spy, in the third novel of the Karla Trilogy. It follows on from where we left off in The Honourable Schoolboy and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy with George Smiley getting pulled out of retirement. After one of Smiley’s former agents and friend is murdered, he soon discovers that the former Soviet General was guarding secret information that leads to an explosive conflict with Smiley’s archenemy Karla.

This story delves into the darkest depths of the Cold War and the ghosts that it left in its devastating wake. John le Carré’s experience in MI5 and MI6 in the 1950s and ‘60s gives him a notable edge when it comes to creating stories filled with spies, suspense and betrayal. This compelling novel is as complex and as thrilling as we have come to expect from le Carré, as we join Smiley on his final mission.

This gripping CD audiobook was also made into a film for the BBC in 1982 starring Sir Alec Guinness, famed for his starring roles in Oliver Twist, Dr Zhivago and the Star Wars Trilogy. Now the complete le Carré collection is available to own on MP3 audiobooks and CD audiobooks, bringing these classic stories to life in a new and entertaining way.
