It’s spring again in the village, and with the change of the seasons comes change in the lives of many villagers. The Young family’s tranquillity is disrupted by the sudden arrival of Joan’s father, while Molly and Ben Curdle consider putting an end to their wandering days in order to finally settle down. Even the reappearance of Sexton Albert Piggott - one of Thrush Green’s more malevolent sorts - cannot dim the happiness that inevitably prevails at Thrush Green.

Customer Reviews

Miss. Read loves to explore the connection between a change in moods and a change in seasons and arguably she does it best in Return To Thrush Green!

Novelist Dora Saint took her writing pseudonym from her mother’s maiden name and with it she transformed from a teacher to a successful author, eventually earning an MBE for her work. Her most famous stories focus on the lives and loves of the residents of Thrush Green and Fairacre – two typically English villages with all the charm and charisma you can expect from Read.

As springtime comes around in Thrush Green, we are met with a disruption in the village that causes what (in this delightful village that experiences turmoil if a squirrel steals the bird nuts) can only be described a “controversy”. However, as heartwarmingly amusing as rural life can be to the rest of the world, the stir caused by the arrival of the Young family’s father is intense to the local community. We also follow the lives of Ben and Molly Curdle who want to settle down and the return of a rather spiteful man of the cloth.

Will happiness prevail in Thrush Green? Find out in this charming audiobook on CD…
