Once again we join tale-teller Mr Mulliner in the the Angler's Rest, to hear more implausable aneccotes. In 'The Bishop's Move', the regulars remind Mulliner about a tale he told of his nephew Augustine and a wonder drug, Buck-U-Uppo. This leads Mr Mulliner to tell of a Bishop nearly undone by the miraculous tonic. 'The Ordeal of Osbert Mulliner' concerns another hapless relation, Osbert, who finds an unexpected advantage when two criminals attempt to burgle his flat. In 'The Knightly Quest of Mervyn', young Mervyn Mulliner must prove his love for the glamorous Clarice by finding strawberries in December. Review By john - Having never heard of Mr Mulliner I had no idea what to expect. When I listened to the first episode I was somewhat disappointed. However after listening to other episodes I have become more familiar with them and quite enjoy them. The format is a group of people meeting in a pub and after the drinks are order and a little conversation between the members of the group Mr Mulliner tells a story about one of his relatives. The story is enacted with Mr Mulliner narrating where appropriate. Some of his stories I found clever and interesting whilst the finish of others I found unsatisfactory. I paid under £3 for this download and am quite satisfied with my purchase. (Posted on 4 February 2013)

PG Wodehouse wrote an impressive 96 books throughout his prolific career as an author. Other respected writing by Wodehouse includes poetry, plays and pieces of journalism. He was also a great writer of song lyrics, including a not-insignificant contribution to Cole Porter's work 'Anything Goes', musical creator Sigmund Romberg's 'Rosalie' and many works by composer Guy Bolton and playwright Jerome Kern. These days Wodehouse is more famed for his colourful literary characters such as Lord Emsworth and Mr Mulliner, and these delightful audiobooks on CD and MP3 really do bring this remarkable man’s literary abilities to life.

This collection of short stories features 'The Bishop's Move', 'The Ordeal of Osbert Mulliner', 'The Knightly Quest of Mervyn' and 'The Truth About George'. The stories all centre around the famous Wodehouse character Mr Mulliner and his many tales told in the public house, the Angler's Rest. All tales are eccentric and elaborate and all involve a relative of his. Wodehouse wrote 41 stories in total featuring Mr Mulliner and presented here are a select few of the very best, giving the listener a true taste of Mr Mulliner’s character.

These BBC CD audiobooks feature a full cast with the North Yorkshire British actor Richard Griffiths reading in the role of Mr Mulliner. This ideal casting creates a brilliant dramatisation of these humourous Wodehouse tales of an outlandish Englishman that is all too full of human failings, including the desire to tell some very tall tales!
