Henry V is one of the most iconic plays in the history of theatre. Those that have never been near a Shakespeare play are at least acquainted with Henry’s rousing speech about ‘Harry, England and St George’. But Henry V is much more than the battle cries and its famous chorus speech. This is a play about a man who leaves his past life behind and embraces his destiny - a destiny that reclaims territory lost and gives peace to a war torn country. This is a play about friendship lost and gained; about respect, love and about what happens when one lives for a higher goal.
This is unabridged, full-cast production is part of Arkangel’s award-winning project to record all of Shakespeare’s work in a fresh and exciting way for the new millennium. Jamie Glover plays Henry in this production with the youth and tenacity that is so prevalent in Henry’s speeches. Jamie has extensive experience in both Theatre and on TV. On television, he has appeared in Birds Of A Feather, Casualty and Midsomer Murders.
An accomplished radio actor, perhaps most famous for his work in the Bourne saga, X-Men and the role of Agamemnon in Troy, Brian Cox portrays the Chorus with firm assurance. This production is available as an MP3 audiobook and will certainly rouse the spirits!
