Henry IV, Part 2 is the second instalment of Shakespeare’s two plays about the stoic English king and his wayward son. In spite of their previous reconciliation, King Henry IV is troubled once more by his son and heir’s lifestyle choices. Haunting London taverns by night with the oafish hedonist Falstaff and his revelling band of lowlifes, Hal seems far from a suitable to rule England in the event of his father’s passing.
When rebellion breaks out and Henry IV sickens, it seems that the throne is soon to be Hal’s. But, as the apprehensive king fears, will Falstaff’s corruptive influence bring England to ruin?
