Henry IV, Part 2 is the second instalment of Shakespeare’s two plays about the stoic English king and his wayward son. In spite of their previous reconciliation, King Henry IV is troubled once more by his son and heir’s lifestyle choices. Haunting London taverns by night with the oafish hedonist Falstaff and his revelling band of lowlifes, Hal seems far from a suitable to rule England in the event of his father’s passing.

When rebellion breaks out and Henry IV sickens, it seems that the throne is soon to be Hal’s. But, as the apprehensive king fears, will Falstaff’s corruptive influence bring England to ruin?

This BBC production of William Shakespeare’s historical classic brings together an incredible cast of distinguished actors, including the father and son Julian and Jamie Glover as King Henry IV and the Prince of Wales. The Glovers have undertaken a number of high profile roles in the past, appearing in hugely popular productions such as Star Wars, Game of Thrones and Waterloo Road, to name a few.

Introduced by Richard Eyre, the former director of the Royal National Theatre, Henry IV, Part 2 is among a collection of high quality Shakespeare productions from the BBC, available as audiobooks on MP3.
