The Chelsea Flower Show is a delightful and quintessentially British event on the summer calendar. It’s a time when society can come together and admire horticulture's finest specimens in a civilised and dignified manner. This particular Chelsea Flower Show, however, turns out to be nothing of the sort for a certain Time Lord!
Floating near the outer atmosphere of Saturn, Chelsea 426 is a settlement no larger than the size of an average Earth city. Written by Welsh author David Llewellyn, The Taking of Chelsea 426 starts off in the meticulously-kept Oxygen Gardens maintained by the curious yet shady Professor Wilberforce. As the dedicated staff prepare for the looming social event, the town is abuzz with the disgruntling news of an impending influx of pesky tourists.
As always in the Dr Who series, all is not what it seems. Listeners will be left flummoxed as the flowers are revealed to be a lot more than just decorative vegetation. Upset and mayhem in the community is afoot when it turns out that the tourists are not the only unwelcome visitors to Chelsea 426…
As luck would have it the quirky Time Lord is in town. Read by English actor Christopher Ryan, this visit to another dimension is an enthralling five hours of classic Dr Who sci-fi on CD audiobook.
