Although Peter Davison was already establishing himself as a contender for the crown of ‘Best Doctor,’ this CD audiobook adventure seals his place in Doctor Who history, with an event that would shatter 19 years of precedent.
After a heated argument with one of his companions, Adric, the Fifth Doctor decides to go for a walk. His curiosity leads him into some caves, where he finds bodies and androids. Things take a turn for the worse when he’s accused of murder by a group of palaeontologists and has to prove his innocence. However, things get darker still when the Doctor discovers an old nemesis behind the killings and a member of the Tardis crew will pay the ultimate price to save Earth…
Peter Davison dons his cricket whites once more, to narrate this dark and atmospheric MP3 audiobook. He slips back into the Doctor’s air of reckless innocence with ease and gives a fabulous rendition of each of the supporting characters. He’s ably assisted by the voice of Nicholas Briggs, who picks up his cyberhelmet once again, resulting in a CD audiobook that is as full of twists and turns as the catacombs the Doctor loses himself in. Brilliant for Classic Whovians and fans of the new series who want a peek at an earlier incarnation of both the Doctor and one of his most iconic enemies.
