A lack of resources and dodgy political manoeuvring leaves a lush jungle planet teetering on the edge of survival. Intercepting an intergalactic distress signal, the Doctor and his companions land the TARDIS into this maelstrom. They discover that although the planet, Chloris, is rich in plant life, metal of any sort is very rare. As the jungle threatens to take over, the inhabitants are dependent on one remaining mine, owned by the heartless Lady Adrasta.
But Lady Adrasta has a secret – at the bottom of The Pit lies a giant shapeless imprisoned by Adrasta fifteen years earlier. Only it can release the planet’s inhabitants from her callous control. But will the Doctor be able to free the creature before his alien masters take their revenge on the planet?
David Fisher wrote this complete and unabridged novelisation. Fisher was the scriptwriter for the original TV show and several other Doctor Who episodes during the 1970s. Tom Baker, who played the fourth Doctor, brings this BBC drama to life with his very recognisable, mellow voice.
This MP3 audiobook has all the twists and turns fans expect from an expertly written Doctor Who script. For those who remember the original episode, the extra layers and nuances of a novelisation have created a more richly textured, and highly enjoyable story.
