This Big Finish adventure is a full cast recording and it’s great to hear the voices of Peter Davidson as the dapper fifth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as companion Peri. They spar off one another and their performances provide fantastic characterisation on this CD audiobook. Davidson’s real-life daughter, Georgia Moffit, also makes an appearance as an interesting human-martian hybrid character.

The mood of this MP3 audiobook is somber and the distinctive styling of the incidental music really grabs your attention, pulling you into a character and dialogue driven story with some great acting, atmospheric sound work and a series of cliffhanger endings marking the episode ends.

Writer Justin Richards is Creative Consultant on the BBC Books series of Doctor Who novels and originally cut his teeth on Doctor Who-related tales. He is now also an author of sci-fi and fantasy novels and his experience shows in this accomplished full-cast script.
