This is the first story in the Big Finish series, which sees Peter Davidson, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy each narrate a story as their own incarnation of the Doctor, before joining together to record a climactic fourth adventure.

The CD audiobook features four 25 minutes episodes: the fifth Doctor (Davidson) must face threats aboard a German U Boat during World War One, the sixth Doctor (Baker) narrates an adventure aboard a space station whilst the seventh Doctor (McCoy) joins in for a visit to an alien planet.

Each story is beautifully written by Nicholas Briggs and the atmospheric audio design work allows the listener to imagine worlds and monsters, unconstrained by visual representation of the BBC TV Drama series.

The individual tales work well but the pièce de résistance for any Doctor Who fan must be when the trio of Timelords combine against a common enemy. It’s truly wonderful to hear the interaction of these great actors working together on the final episode of this audiobook for MP3.
