Is it time to say farewell to Fairacre?
The author of numerous, much-loved books about life in the downland village of Fairacre and the Cotswold village of Thrush Green, Miss Read (Mrs Dora Saint) lives near Hungerford, Berkshire.
Better known by her pen name Miss. Read (her mother’s maiden name) Dora Saint wrote a total of 20 stories set in the quaint fictional English village of Fairacre. The successful British author and screenwriter also used Miss. Read as the name of her main character, a village schoolteacher, who narrates the tales of this peaceful Cotswolds community. Contrary to the title, Farewell to Fairacre is the penultimate novel in the series followed only by A Peaceful Retirement.
We join the story as Miss. Read falls sick just a few years short of her highly anticipated retirement. While she is desperate to continue working for as long as possible, she begins to worry that her ill-health will force her to leave her beloved job before she is ready. Is it really time for Miss. Read to bid a fond farewell to Fairacre School and all the children she teaches or can she battle through?
Join the residents of Fairacre once again in the 19th book in the series that follows the lives of those in the beautiful village of Fairacre. Find out if Miss. Read is forced into an early retirement in this CD audiobook available now.
