William Hartnell stars as the original Doctor in this classic Doctor Who episode, first broadcast on BBC television back in 1966, when the episode is set.
When the TARDIS lands in London, close to the newly built Post Office Tower, the Doctor finds himself unsettled by an eerie and ominous sensation. Exploring their surroundings, he and his time-travelling accomplice, Dodo Chaplet, strike up an informative rapport with Professor Brett, the creator of a super intelligent computer called WOTAN.
Perplexed, the Doctor endeavours to learn more about the machine and it soon becomes apparent that it has a mind of its own. What’s more, its intentions are far from beneficial to the humans it was created to serve. Has the Professor really created an advanced technological masterpiece… or has he in fact created a monster?
This exciting blast from the past now comes to you as a re-mastered recording of the original four-part BBC adventure. A must for Doctor Who fans of all generations, this unique audio production features linking narration from Anneke Wills, who played Polly in the early days of the television series.
Also featuring a bonus interview from Wills, this BBC production of The War Machines is now available on CD or MP3 audiobook.
