First doctor William Hartnell is caught in the battle between good and evil in this exclusive audio recording of a 'lost' television soundtrack, with linking narration by Peter Purves. When the Tardis lands on an arid planet, it seems as though the whole place is desolate and lifeless. But then the Doctor, Steven and Vicki discover two crashed spaceships: one contains the Drahvins, a race of stunning beauty, the other contains the hideous Rills. However, as the team soon find out, appearances can be deceptive. It emerges that the beauty of the Drahvins hides a colony of mindless clones who are controlled by the cruel, powerful matriarch Maaga, whereas the ugly Rills are friendly and intelligent explorers. The Rills tell the Doctor that the dried-up planet is about to die. Back in the control room of the Tardis, he discovers they are right, but things are worse than they thought. There is only one day of life left - one day to escape. With the Drahvins' ship damaged beyond repair, can the Rills get off the planet before the evil Maaga hijacks their craft in her own effort to escape?

Review By Drew - I was glad to find this at last since the CD version sold out many years ago. An above average partially lost serial is once again rbought to life by Purves' narration. Not bad at all! (Posted on 20 March 2013)

Galaxy 4 both delighted and terrified British audiences when it was first broadcast on BBC television back in 1965, featuring William Hartnell the very first incarnation of the Doctor.

After landing on an eerily quiet planet, the Doctor- along with his companions Steven and Vicki- originally assumes that they have embarked upon an uninhabited world. He is swiftly proven wrong when they discover two totalled spaceships: one owned by a race of beautiful but wicked Drahvins, the other by the ugly but amiable Rills.

The reptilian Rills are quick to inform the crew of the dangers that lie in wait on the dying planet. Surrounded by the mindless Drahvin clones, the Doctor and his accomplices are flung into panic when they realise that time is rapidly closing in on them. They desperately need to escape before it’s too late. But the Drahvins want exactly the same thing… and there’s only one vehicle intact.

Over forty years after it was first broadcast, you now have the exciting opportunity to rediscover this classic Doctor Who story with this full-cast dramatisation. This exclusive recording of a lost BBC episode soundtrack, available on CD or MP3 audiobook, is linked by Peter Purves’ engaging narration.
