With low production-values, the superb script and inspired plot were overshadowed by the rubber dinosaurs which instilled more laughter than fear. The Third Doctor and Sarah Jane return to 20^th Century London, only to find it deserted. After being arrested by and escaping from the police, the reason for the mass-exodus is revealed: London has been invaded by dinosaurs. But the creeping evil behind this anomaly has its claws in many pies and even members of the ever-loyal UNIT fall foul to a greater, darker plan.

Martin Jarvis, who appeared in the original BBC TV show, (and is well-known as the narrator of the Just William series of audiobooks for CD and MP3) steps up to the mark as narrator. He perfectly captures the Third Doctor’s debonair charm and cheerfully inhabits all the other characters with seamless dexterity. Without having to worry about rubber monsters, what’s left is the story and this story is one of the most exciting of the Pertwee era. An ideal introduction to the Third Doctor for New Who Fans and a new take on a classic for older listeners, this makes enchanting listening for fans of all ages.
