Review By Ben - This has always been one of my favorite Peter Davison stories and this audio adaptation of the Target novelisation is a great listen. Told by 'The Doctor' himself, I would very much recommend this. (Posted on 15 May 2013)

Review By Me - A great reding by Peter Davison of a great novelisation of a brilliant t.v episode by Christopher H. Bidmeas (Posted on 22 May 2012)

Peter Davison had his work cut out; he was stepping into the shoes of the longest-serving and (then) best-loved Doctor in the show’s history. However, he made the role his own and his predecessor was very quickly nothing but a fond memory. This CD audiobook tells the story of the Doctor’s very first adventure in his fifth incarnation.

Castrovalva picks up directly after the Doctor’s fourth regeneration at the hands of the Master. Weak and ‘still cooking’, he needs to recover, so the Tardis crew install him in the Zero Room. Unfortunately for the traumatised Time Lord, the Zero Room has to be jettisoned, so it’s decided to take him to Castrovalva; a planet of peace and tranquillity. However, beneath its serene façade lies a deadly trap – set by none other than the Master himself…

Peter Davison takes the narrative helm for this MP3 audiobook, effortlessly slipping back into his cricketing whites. With new sound-effects and incidental music to support Davison’s peerless delivery, this is an effective re-booting of a classic adventure in the Doctor Who canon. Fans of Peter Davison will jump at the chance to revisit his character’s first adventure, whilst New Who fans will find it equally enchanting. Pass the celery.
