Lindsey Davis is a bestselling master of historical thrillers. Best known for her Marcus Didius Falco series about a private investigator who operates during the Roman Empire, Davis has won a number of literary awards for her engaging and informative tales.

This BBC Drama adaptation of ‘The Iron Hand of Mars’ brings life to the fourth novel in the series of the hugely successful, often humorous stories featuring Falco - the nation’s favourite Roman private eye.

The story begins when Falco is shipped off to the dismal Germania Liberi in the aftermath of a rebellion. With the instruction to introduce a new standard of discipline - the iron hand - to the legion, Falco has a hefty task on his hands. A number of dangers arise along the way, including the discovery and investigation of a horrendous crime, a troublesome encounter with an angry centurion, a fateful meeting with a Celtic Priestess and, worst of all, the penance that comes with forgetting Helena Justina’s birthday.

Starring Anton Lesser as Falco, Anna Madeley as Helena Justina, Ben Crowe as Petronius, Jonathan Keeble as Titus Caeser and Michael Tudor Barnes as Vesapian, this full-cast BBC dramatisation is available for you to own on CD audiobook, or to download in MP3 format.
