It’s no easy life for a king, especially when he has managed to upset two of the men that helped him to his throne, as well as the Earl of March who believes that he is was the former king’s rightful heir. To make matters worse for the suffering King Henry IV, his son and heir, Hal, the Prince of Wales, has been led astray by a hedonistic, cowardly oaf of a man, Sir John Falstaff. Accompanied by the fat knight’s merry band of fools, the wayward group are seen to waste their night revelling in London taverns.
In this BBC Drama production, Julian and Jamie Glover play the royal father and son combination, Henry IV and Prince Hal. The Glover’s are both distinguished actors, having played a number of high profile roles in the past in productions such as Star Wars, Game of Thrones and Waterloo Road. They are joined for this Shakespearean dramatisation by a full-cast, including the likes of Timothy West and Prunella Scales.
Now the first instalment of Shakespeare’s two powerful historic plays about the life of Henry IV can be yours to own as a CD audiobook, or in downloadable MP3 format.
