This work of detective fiction by the world’s bestselling crime writer of all time, Agatha Christie, is the final book to figure Superintendent Battle. We are introduced to Lady Tressilian who we quickly learn is a grim old lady restricted to her bed at the seaside house she owns called Gull’s Point. This formidable woman with her dour attitude invites several guests to stay at her house at the end of the summer and, probably rather unsurprisingly, is murdered by one of her guests.
Agatha Christie isn’t known as the queen of crime writing for no reason and Towards Zero is one of her most suspense-filled stories filled with a labyrinth of unexpected plot twists and turns. As events turn sinister at Gull’s Point, Superintendent Battle and his nephew, Inspector James Leach, work hard to solve the mysterious murder of the hard-faced host. There are clues to work on and deception is waiting for them at every corner they turn throughout the investigation. Can they work together as a family and bring the killer to justice, or will one of the house guests quite literally get away with murder?
This BBC Radio 4 dramatisation stars comical English actor Philip Fox and Downtown Abbey star Hugh Bonneville and this CD audiobook really brings this classic murderous tale to life. Also available as an MP3 download, Towards Zero makes a perfect addition to any audiobook collection.
