Two BBC Radio full-cast dramatisations from the Queen of Crime. ‘The Unexpected Guest’ A foggy night... a lonely country house... and a woman with a gun in her hand quietly surveying the dead body of her husband. It looks like a straightforward case of murder. Or was it? As the ghosts of an old wrong begin to emerge from the past, the case begins to look anything but straightforward, and it is up to Sergeant Cadwallader and Inspector Thomas to discover the unexpected truth... ‘The Pale Horse’ A dying woman gasps out her bizarre story to Catholic priest Father Gorman - but no sooner has he written it down than he is violently killed. The only clue he leaves is a twisted scrap of paper on which are written nine names. On the trail of these names Inspector Lejeune, together with academic Mark Easterbrooke and his crime writer friend Ariadne Oliver, are led inexorably to The Pale Horse Inn, in the village of Much Deeping. The three women who live there - a psychic, a medium and a witch - all seem to have some link to Father Gorman’s death. And each of them has their own secrets... These two Agatha Christie stories, each with a twist in the tale, are dramatised with full casts including Siôn Probert and Stephanie Cole.

This work of detective fiction was created by the queen of crime and suspense writing, Agatha Christie. Christie has sold more than four billion books and has only been outsold by William Shakespeare and the Bible. Her imagination was boundless as evidenced in her many detective novels filled with murder, suspense and intrigue. Now, a new generation of listeners can discover the best of Christie in this collection of audiobooks on CD and as MP3 downloads.

We join The Pale Horse with Mrs Davies on her deathbed as she requests to give a last confession to Father Gorman. However, her last confession was more than just an attempt to cleanse her soul as she reveals a shocking secret along with a strange list of names. A shaken Father Gorman decides to take action but is murdered during an eerie, foggy night before he gets a chance to act upon the terrible information he was given.

Christie introduces us to a young hero who sets out to unravel the secrets of this heinous murder of an innocent man of the cloth. The single clue to the murder is a piece of paper with the names of nine people scribbled on - but what do these nine names mean?

The Pale Horse Inn in the quaint and seemingly charming village of Much Deeping is the spooky focal point of this fantastic story, now available on CD audiobook.
