A master of suspense, machinations and crime writing, Agatha Christie brings everyone’s favourite detective back in One, Two, Buckle My Shoe – Hercule Poirot. This time the victim is none other than Poirot’s own dentist, Henry Morley, who initially appears to have committed suicide. The unusual title of the story derives from the famous nursery rhyme that shares the same name and interestingly, every chapter is named after a line in the song.
We join the fatal tale as Poirot suspects that Morley was murdered and while the official verdict is suicide Poirot, as ever, knows better! After investigating the death, threads soon start to unravel and it is clear that there is far more to the story than was first expected. After some digging and delving in true-Poirot style, we learn that Morley may have had a penchant for killing. Did the dentist administer a lethal anaesthetic overdose to a patient before he died and can the great Belgian detective solve yet another mystery?
This crime mystery stands out from Christie’s other fictional tales as it is the first Poirot adventure that reflects the enveloping darkness of WWII. English actor John Moffatt stars as the voice of Poirot in this MP3 audiobook that is also available as a CD audiobook, as we delve into one of Christie’s most openly political novels.
